Storytimes
There are many benefits to storytime! Storytime is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to interact and connect with one another, other families, and the joy of stories. Youth Services staff carefully choose stories, songs, activities, and more that reinforce your child’s developing social, emotional, physical, and literacy skills through stories and movement. Library staff model ways in which you can incorporate learning through stories, talking, singing, and playing at home and on the go. Storytime fosters imagination, creativity, communication, and so much more. We look forward to seeing you at storytime!

Storytime @ the Park (Riverfront Park)
Tuesdays, September 9—October TBD
10:30am
Caregivers, birth—5 year olds, and their families will enjoy 30-45 minutes of active songs, stories, games, fingerplays, and more at Riverfront Park. Bring your dancing feet, a towel or sit-upon for the ground, and a water bottle. We typically meet at the pavilion that is located behind the bathrooms. In the case of strong weather, air quality alerts, or extreme heat, this program will take place in the library—watch our social media for updates or contact the library directly. The last day of Storytime @ the Park depends upon the changing seasons and weather – we will keep you posted.
Baby-Toddler Storytime
Wednesdays, September 10 – December 3
9:30am
Caregivers and their birth—3 year olds will join library staff for developmentally-appropriate fingerplays, stories, songs, and more for 15-25 minutes. Lap-sitters, skootchers, crawlers, and walkers are all welcome but please keep those who move within arm’s reach.
Preschool Storytime
Thursdays, September 11—December 4
9:30am
Children ages 3 and older who are able to interact and join a group for a longer period of time will participate in stories, songs, instruments, dancing, and more for 30-40 minutes. A caregiver must remain in the library or attend storytime with their child. An optional activity, craft, or experiment will sometimes follow Preschool Storytime.
Family Storytime
Fridays, September 12—December 5
9:30am
Together with library staff, kids birth and older plus their caregivers will sing, dance, hear stories, and so much more for 30 minutes.
Please note:
Library staff prepares each storytime with certain age levels in mind, but we also recognize the complexities of families with children in multiple age groups. Younger siblings are welcome to join you and your preschooler at PreK Storytime and older siblings are welcome at Baby/Toddler. However, we do ask that you remove yourselves to hang out in the Children’s Area if they start to draw attention away from the storytime activities. You are most welcome to return back to the group when you’re ready, either that day or another day.
You are welcome to attend the appropriate storytime(s) as few or as many times as your schedule allows.
We encourage childcare groups to contact us in advance so we can make sure we are best prepared for a larger group. Thank you.

Felt-Alongs
Introducing Felt-Alongs! Families and caregivers with birth through early elementary aged children can pick up their own travel-size feltboard, complete with the story, song, or game of the month. Feltboard stories, songs, and games wonderfully blend learning and play. Encourage sound recognition, language development, creative thinking, and many other skills while you and your little one bond over a love of reading and learning. Felt-Alongs will be used during Prek & Family Storytime then distributed to attendees one week a month. Extras will be available on a first come first serve basis at the Youth Services desk. Watch social media for each month’s announcement.
